The Learning Brain
One of the most significant discoveries made by neuroscientists in recent years is Brain Plasticity. We now know that our brains are “plastic”, which means they can be changed by use. This is in contrast to the prior long held belief that our brains ceased being able to change in late childhood. It was believed there was no prospect of making fundamental changes to the brain after about age 8. We now know that our brains are capable of developing throughout life with appropriate stimulation.
The patented Fast ForWord technology enhances learning capacity by applying the principles of brain plasticity. |

In The Learning Brain section of our website, we have collected information and facts about how our brains learn which you may find interesting. You do not need to be a neuroscientist to understand most of it, although there are some scholarly articles on The Science Fundamentals page!
Here is a quick guide to what you will find in this section:
- Brain Plasticity – about plasticity and what it means for anyone wanting to improve their brain’s ability to learn
- Brain Basics – key information about the brain and its structure for language and reading
- Learning to Read & Spell – the processes involved in how we learn these fundamental yet challenging tasks
- Dr Merzenich’s Brain Blog – a highly informative blog written by a world renowned neuroscientist
